Firdose Ahmad Jan belongs to a family of shawl weavers and embroidery artisans in India. Although he never received any professional training for this craft, he started at a very early age with the help of his mother who trained him on how to de-hair raw pashmina. When his father, Bashir Ahmad Jan understood his interest in the craft, he gave Firdose the required training. He draws inspiration from the traditional architecture of Mughal emperor and for color combination, nature is the source of inspiration.
